Training Programme

Marah is committed to develop the skills necessary to function effectively

  • 20 Marah staff have completed stages one and two of a Drugs Awareness Training Programme run by Andrew Wood who has considerable experience of the Probation Service and the Criminal Justice Department, and who is now working with the Youth Offenders Scheme.

  • 28 members of Marah’s staff have completed a 20 hour Drugs Awareness Training Programme run by Life for the World.  Life for the World courses are informed by DANOS standards as set out by the National Treatment Agency and the core values of the International Substance Misuse and Addiction Coalition (ISAAC).

  • 2 staff members have completed their 50 hour voluntary placements with established drug projects as the final stage of a University of Gloucestershire validated certificate course in Substance Misuse Care and Counselling run by Life for the World. This will enable them to become full members of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals.

  • Funding is being sought to send all key staff members on the above course. 4 further staff members commenced this certificate course in September 2007.

  • Many Marah staff have completed a Foundation Certificate Course in Food Hygiene.

  • Several staff members have attended a four day 'First Aid In The Workplace" course during 2006.

  • In addition to the above, an ongoing Training schedule for Health, Safety and Risk assessment is maintained.
